During last week’s webinar, “Discover the Latest Capabilities of AirWatch Secure Content Locker,” attendees asked several questions that the presenters didn’t get to before time ran out. Below, AirWatch representatives have provided answers to some of the most pressing questions.
The webinar covered the evolution of the file sync and share market from a consumer-driven space to an enterprise-focused market that bridges employee demands with IT security requirements. As the market has evolved, AirWatch has introduced new features to its mobile content management solution, AirWatch Secure Content Locker. The latest capabilities include an activity feed, @tags and the ability to comment on files, bringing a social element to the secure enterprise solution, which allows users to share and collaborate on content. The Outlook plugin and enhanced dashboard tracking and reporting features enhance both IT and employee experiences with mobile content.
Here are the answers to attendees’ questions. If you don’t see the answer you’re looking for, please leave your question in the comment box below the article.
Do Secure Content Locker users have to create their file share (or personal content repository) during enrollment, or can the administrator auto-create file share for users during the enrollment process using the file share template?
Both methods mentioned above are supported. We have two types of templates that would assist with each of the scenarios above. A manual template delegates the repository configuration to the end user, while an automatic template configures the repository automatically for the user when they log into their personal AirWatch Secure Content Locker.
Is the AirWatch Secure Content Locker content dashboard all encompassing? Can it be broken down per organization group?
The content dashboard can be viewed at any organization group level, depending on which user group’s data the administrator would like to see. For example, an administrator could see the dashboard for the entire organization, or just for a single office or employee type, depending on how their deployment is organized.
Are we able to set the water mark to automatically be created for all documentation that a user sees?
Yes, that is an option! The watermark can be enabled by default for all repository documents, or it can be added on a document-by-document basis.
Can I upload from my mobile device to SharePoint through AirWatch Secure Content Locker?
Yes, you can! Administrators can enable “write” access to the repository, but once that policy is set any eligible user can check documents back into SharePoint or upload new versions.
Are there any plans for Secure Content Locker to integrate with existing document management solutions other than SharePoint, such as OpenText eDOCS DM?
AirWatch Secure Content Locker can integrate with SharePoint, NFS, WebDav, Google Drive, OneDrive, Office 365 SharePoint and any repository that leverages CMIS for enterprise content management. This includes software such as OpenText, Alfresco, and Documentum. Please see the AirWatch press release containing all 30+ supported repositories.
Can lookup values be used in the link field with automatic user repositories so the drive paths can be pulled automatically from Active Directory rather than adding a username to the end of a static drive path?
Yes! That is a great use case, and one that we kept in mind when designing and implementing the new Automatic Templates. We provide administrators the flexibility to pull a directory services attribute only for this link, or set it up manually and use a lookup value as a part of the path.
Does the notification users receive when they are tagged in a comment (ie. @JohnDoe) require Mobile Email Management or will it work with Mobile Device Management + the Mobile Access Gateway?
Actually, neither MEM nor MDM nor the MAG are required for this function! Only Mobile Content Management (AirWatch Secure Content Locker) is required for these advanced content collaboration features, but of course they can be deployed alongside your MDM or Workspace deployment.
Are both the iOS and Android Secure Content Locker apps identical in terms of functionality?
Yes, the latest versions AirWatch Secure Content Locker for Android and iOS support the features demonstrated today, such as sharing, commenting and selective folder sync.
