Apple on Tuesday expanded its Device Enrollment Program (DEP) outside the United States to 25 additional countries and regions, as well as to authorized resellers and carriers. DEP, which was previously offered only in the U.S., is now available in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.
DEP provides a streamlined way to configure and deploy a large number of corporate-owned Mac or iOS devices. Through an integration with DEP, enterprises can enable automatic installation of AirWatch MDM profiles onto devices during setup. Users are taken through a series of simple prompts the first time they turn on a new device. Once enrollment is complete, administrators can supervise the devices over the air without Apple Configurator, and because MDM profiles are installed at the device level, users cannot delete them.
Organizations can import new devices directly into their AirWatch environments from the Apple order history page. Then through AirWatch, administrators can easily configure content, profiles and apps. AirWatch also supports staging workflows, automatic assignment of ownership types and the ability to pre-assign devices to user and organization groups.
