VMware AirWatch SDK Plugins Now Available for Hybrid App Development Platforms

  • Tejas Mehrotra By

Enterprises are digitally transforming and evolving their business models to adopt mobility and apps into almost every aspect of their business. According to Gartner, by 2020, more than 75 percent of enterprises will have adopted at least one platform to accelerate their digital transformation strategies.

Developers and customers are adopting hybrid development platforms—Cordova, Xamarin, SAP Fiori—to build applications for multiple operating systems and devices from a single codebase and to reduce mobile application development costs.

Our mission and goal, at VMware, is to create tools that help enterprise companies build successful apps, easier and faster, and that accelerate their progress towards digital transformation. We are building tools and software development kits (SDKs) for enterprise developers to integrate security, identity and analytics into mission-critical, line-of-business apps; to deliver apps faster to end users and to reduce time to market.

We recently released VMware AirWatch SDK plugins for Cordova and Xamarin (SAP Fiori is in development) platforms that help add key features to enterprise apps:

  • App data security,
  • Compliance policies,
  • Automation for actions,
  • Data loss prevention,
  • Secure app-level tunneling,
  • Single sign-on across the ecosystem of enterprise apps
  • And much more!

Already, our team has seen encouraging results with a few our customers and partners adopting the AirWatch SDK. We would love to work with the developer community as this work evolves across native (Android and iOS), Cordova, Xamarin and SAP Fiori app development platforms.

If you’re an enterprise app developer (or want to be one) and are interested in evaluating our SDK, please visit VMware {code}. We’re excited to continue building and evolving our SDK to address more of your app development use cases and goals!
