TechTarget: BlackBerry shops abandon ship, weigh enterprise mobile device options

  • Lanier Norville By

A new TechTarget article chronicles the story of one frustrated BlackBerry loyalist who finally abandoned ship. Norm Waslynchuk works in IT at Abell Pest Control, a Toronto-based company which was until recently a BlackBerry shop. The former IT consultant was reviewing enterprise mobility options at the end of 2012 and decided to wait – in vain, he now realizes – for something new from BlackBerry before considering a new platform.

“I went to BlackBerry World in Orlando that year,” Waslynchuk told Tech Target. “There had been a lot of anticipation for a new product. We kept waiting and waiting and waiting. And then they gave out these BlackBerry alpha products to developers. The rest of us didn”t get anything.”

Today, Waslynchuk is in the process of decommissioning Abell”s BlackBerry Enterprise (BES) 10 server and moving all devices into management with AirWatch.

Read the rest of Waslynchuk”s story and TechTarget”s analysis of the migration trend here.
