The AirWatch mobile email app AirWatch Inbox is now available in the Windows Store for devices running Windows RT, Core and Pro, including Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 3. The app, which was released for Android last year and iOS in January of this year, is a containerized email client with military-grade security and flexible deployment options. The containerized email client gives employees secure mobile access to their most important work tools, all in one place.
AirWatch Inbox is more than just email. The app syncs a user’s email, calendar and contacts from Microsoft Exchange 2010 and 2013 servers as well as Office 365. So the information users see on their desktops, laptops, Android and iOS devices and now Windows RT, Core and Pro devices will be the same.
From within the app, users can send messages to contacts, view a daily list of events and perform common email actions – like mark unread, flag and search – that workers have grown accustomed to using. Users can even add, delete and rename folders on their mobile devices and AirWatch Inbox will sync those changes across devices.
The app has a tight grip on corporate data, encrypting messages with AES 256-bit encryption in transit and at rest. As a security measure, admins can set a maximum number of failed login attempts before the application is wiped. AirWatch Inbox also protects against data loss with features like restricting copy/paste and preventing users from being able to download attachments.
When used in conjunction with AirWatch MDM, administrators can require end users to use AirWatch Inbox for their email. Administrators can configure this and other settings through the AirWatch console, such as requiring the use of a complex alphanumeric passcode so that the app can be used by even the most security-conscious organizations.
