AirWatch by VMware has scored highest for the “global enterprise deployment” use case in Gartner’s 2014 Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Mobility Management report.

In the report, Gartner rated seven vendors’ products against 11 critical capabilities. The capabilities of each vendor were rated for six different use cases: global enterprise deployment, regulated industries, unified endpoint management, shared general-purpose device support, SaaS deployments and special-purpose device support. According to Gartner, global enterprise deployments require maturity in areas such as scalability, administration, multilingual support and completeness of capabilities.

In the following video, AirWatch sales engineer Blake Brannon explains AirWatch’s position in the report and addresses the company’s plans for growing AirWatch technologies.

Gartner defines critical capabilities as “attributes that differentiate products/services in a class in terms of their quality and performance.”

The inclusion criteria in Gartner’s Critical Capabilities report are more rigorous than those for the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Mobility Management Suites, requiring vendors to meet the following parameters:

  • $30 million in 2013 EMM revenue
  • MDM support for iOS, Android and Windows Phone
  • Ability to manage policies and control data sharing for mobile apps
  • Ability to provide a mobile content container to store and manage content on iOS and Android (added to the inclusion criteria this year)
