VMware AirWatch Now a FedRAMP In-Process System

  • Gabrielle Ferree By

Today, FedRAMP listed VMware AirWatch as a FedRAMP In-Process System, meaning AirWatch is actively working with the government through the FedRAMP Security Assessment Framework (SAF) to become fully FedRAMP compliant. Customers can purchase the AirWatch FedRAMP In-Process enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution today.

The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, or FedRAMP, is a government-wide program with a goal to ease the complexity of deploying cloud-based systems in Federal IT infrastructure. The program’s “do once, use many times” framework simplifies the process of various federal government organizations implementing cloud technologies.

AirWatch completed an extensive application to enter the In-Process stage and is working closely with FedRAMP and sponsor the U.S. Census Bureau through the audit process to become fully compliant and receive an Authority to Operate (ATO). AirWatch is one of the only EMM solutions to receive this distinction.

Achieving FedRAMP In-Process is yet another distinction that demonstrates AirWatch’s commitment to serve federal government customers. In 2014, AirWatch announced the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Field Security Operations (FSO) released the AirWatch MDM Software 6.5 Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) Version 1 for immediate use. This STIG certification validated that AirWatch meets security requirements for installation on Department of Defense (DOD) networks.

AirWatch also meets Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 compliance standards to protect confidential data.
